In May 2012 Courtney Cox approached her friend, music producer Bob Clearmountain, to ask if Bryan and I would write a song for her debut as a film director: "TalhotBlond", the true story of a love triangle that ends in murder.
Courtney's request arrived on a Monday (May 21, 2012). She needed a song -- written, recorded and mixed -- by Friday.
Yikes!
So I recorded the instruments on my Apple laptop at my summer cottage in northern Canada, where I happened to be that week.
Bryan was thousands of miles away, in London. He recorded a vocal and sent it to me by email. Once everything was assembled I did a "large file transfer" to Bob Clearmountain in Los Angeles, for mixing and editing ... on schedule and on budget!
It's actually the quick "home recording" that appears in the film. I can't find the audio-- maybe it's on an older computer? -- but when I do find it, I'll add it to this page.
Several years later, in 2019, Bryan recorded a second (less rushed) version of "Nobody's Girl" for inclusion on his "Shine A Light" album (see Audio-2 above). |
