I wrote the piano riff at The Record Plant in New York in April 1979 when I was recording with Ian Lloyd and Bruce Fairbairn. I planned on giving the song to Ian, but Bryan really liked it, so he and I finished it when I got back to Vancouver.

I borrowed the title "Try To See It My Way" from the opening line of the Beatle's song "We Can Work It Out".

Adams and I recorded most of the track at Manta in Toronto, later adding guitars at Sunset Sound in Los Angeles.

Legendary guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers) played rhythm guitar on the recording.
Lyrics: Ooo try to see it my way
Ooo try to see it my way
Well I know you'll cover up

All the things you did that tied you up
Just wanna let ya know
That I wanna keep ya warm
Til the sun warms up the dawn
So baby move in a little closer
Then you can think it over

Just try to see it my way
Think it over
Try to see it my way

Well you said you needed time
From all the things that run around your mind
How can let ya know
That I wanna keep ya warm
Til the sun warms up the dawn
And baby move in a little closer
Then you can think it over

Try to see it my way - if ya can
