Comments:
Joe Cocker >
The chorus for "When The Night Comes" was written by Bryan Adams and Diane Warren in Los Angeles.  Bryan and I wrote the verses and completed the song in Vancouver a few days later.

I thought producer Charlie Midnight did a superb job recording the track for Joe Cocker.  I particularly like the backing vocals ... and of course, Joe's lead vocal is exceptional.  But most of all, I like Joe's scream before the last chorus:

Bryan and I recorded a very concise demo of the song which we sent to Joe and his producer. Not only did they do a great job of replicating our arrangement, this is one of the rare instances (in my experience) where the finished product was actually better than the demo! Thank you Joe, thank you Charlie!

Diane Warren >
Diane Warren is one of the most successful songwriters in the history of popular music, having written chart-topping songs for Toni Braxton (Unbreak My Heart), Trisha Yearwood (How Do I Live), Aerosmith (I Don't Want To Miss A Thing), and countless others.

Collectively Diane's songs have sold more than 150-million copies!

Even though Diane and I are credited as co-writers on "When The Night Comes", we've never actually met.
Lyrics: Hold on
I'll be back for you it won't be long
But for now there's somethin' out there callin' me
So take me down that lonesome road
Point me east and let me go
This suitcase weighs me down with memories

I just wanna be the one you run to
I just wanna be the one you come to
I just wanna be there with someone
When the night comes

Let's put all our cares behind us
And go where they'll never find us
I just wanna be there beside you
When the night comes
When the night comes

Two spirits in the night
We could leave before the morning light
When there's nothin' left to lose
There's nothin' left to fear

So meet me on the edge of town
Won't keep you waitin' - I'll be 'round
Then you and I, we'll just roll right outa here

I just wanna be the one you run to
I just wanna be the one you come to
I just wanna be there with someone
When the night comes

Let's put all our cares behind us
And go where they'll never find us
I just wanna be there beside you
When the night comes
When the night comes

I know there'll be a time for you and I
Just take my hand and run away
Pick up all the pieces of this shattered dream
We're gonna make it our's someday
That's when we're comin' back - comin' back to stay

I just wanna be the one you run to
I just wanna be the one you come to
I just wanna be there with someone
When the night comes

Let's put all our cares behind us
And go where they'll never find us
I just wanna be there beside you
When the night comes
When the night comes
