René Froger is one of the Netherlands' most popular and successful recording artists. In 2006, with fellow Dutch singers Gerard Joling and Gordon, René "sold out" the Amsterdam Arena three nights in a row ... a remarkable feat. The trio also recorded a Top-Ten single for the World Cup, entitled "Wir Sind Die Hollander". "Still On Your Side" originally appeared on the album Freight Train Heart (1987), performed by Australian singer Jimmy Barnes. René Froger recorded the song in 1991. It was the first single released from his "Matters Of The Heart" album. |

Two of the backing singers on the track are Laura Vlasblom and Lisa Boray. Laura was a member of the 1980's Dutch girl-group, Frizzle Sizzle (they entered the Eurovision Song Contest but didn't win). She later had a solo career, but mainly worked as a session singer. Lisa Boray started her career in 1974 as a singer with the band "Wally Tax". In 1984 she released her debut album and toured with Billy Preston. In 1990 she recorded her best-known song, "Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden", a duet with Louis de Vries. It became the theme song for the first Dutch daily soap opera. Nowadays Lisa Boray mostly works as a vocal coach and a jazz singer. (Many thanks to Pierre Oitmann for the information on René Froger). |

Lyrics: | Emotions ran high and the words were strong Heard the screen door slam and you were gone You can't win a fight you don't understand And I wake up alone reaching for your hand Like a cold wind in December When we don't see eye to eye I want you to remember I'm still on your side When you need me girl Still on your side As sure as the river runs to the sea There'll have to be times we both disagree Sometimes I feel like shouting It's like a freight train in my heart Make you see they'll be no doubting I'm still on your side When you need me girl Still on your side And I look up to see you standing there But you just look right through me Somebody tell me I'm dreaming Pretend you don't care As you turn round and walk out that door Sometimes I feel like shouting It's like a freight train in my heart Make you see they'll be no doubting I'm still on your side Like a cold wind in December When we don't see eye to eye I want you to remember I'm still on your side Na - na - na - na - na - na I'm still on your side |
