This is the original home-studio demo for "Take Me To The Kaptin" ...
much more "Stones" influenced than the final released version. I'm doing rhythm guitar, bass, drums and vocals. Lindsay Mitchell played lead guitar. |

Comments: | Bit
of a lame lyric - sorry! The title is not-too-subtly lifted from
the Elton John/Bernie Taupin song "Take
Me To The Pilot" ... the main difference being, theirs is a
better song!! "Kaptin Boweevil" was the nickname of Sunshyne keyboardist Peter Bjerring -- hence "Take Me To The Kaptin". In keeping with the science fiction theme of "Spaceship Superstar", "Take Me To The Kaptin" is about travelling to another planet and deciding to stay ... except permission must first be obtained from The Kaptin -- whoever the hell that might be!!! Remarkably, the single managed to chart in the USA. |

Lyrics: | The planet
dies ... no one cries So hard to believe If there was somewhere else to go You know I'd be the first to leave I don't mean to sound ungrateful But I'm afraid that I just can't stay I had a dream the other night And as the dream unfurled I took a trip in a rocket ship And I found another world They told me about their Kaptin They'd have to ask him could I stay - I said Take me to the Kaptin And tell him why I'm here I want to stay in your world While my world disappears Won't you take me to the Kaptin And tell him why I'm here I want to stay in your world While my world disappears (solo) I had a dream the other night And as the dream unfurled I took a trip in a rocket ship And I found another world They told me about their Kaptin They'd have to ask him could I stay - I said Take me to the Kaptin And tell him why I'm here I want to stay in your world While my world disappears Won't you take me to the Kaptin And tell him why I'm here I want to stay in your world While my world disappears |
