Comments:
Bryan Adams and I wrote "Don't Let Him Know" for Prism, my old band from the ‘70s. They recorded the song in 1981 for their "Small Change" album, the first Prism release to feature Henry Small on vocals.

The feel and arrangement for "Don't Let Him Know" was partly inspired by the song "Betty Davis Eyes" by Kim Carnes.
Lyrics:

Here we are wakin’ up by the firelight
Now you’re worried ‘cause it's four a.m.
And I'm wonderin’ what you gonna say to him

And as problems go
I'd say we’ve got one here
Do you wanna leave or do you wanna get closer?

I think you mighta stayed just a little too long
Oh yeah

Oh don't let him know
Don't show him what's in your eyes
Don't let him know

Does he know about you breakin’ the rules?
Does he listen to your lies?
What's gonna happen when you run out of alibis?

Is it easy when you're walkin’ out?
Do you smile as you're leavin’?
If I were you I'd be wonderin’ when he’s gonna get even

I think you mighta stayed just a little too long - oh yeah

Oh don't let him know
Don't show him what's in your heart
Don't let him know
Don't let him know

(Solo)

Is it easy when you're walkin’ out?
Do you smile as you're leavin’?
If I were you I'd be wonderin’ when he’s gonna get even

I think you mighta stayed just a little too long - oh yeah

Oh don't let him know
Don't show him what's in your eyes
Don't let him know
Don't let him know
Don't show him what's in your heart

Don't let him know
Don't let him know
Don't let him know
